Breed Ambassadors

Many people have a negative impression of German Shepherds - they may have met an unruly or mean GSD in their lifetime or think they are scary because they are often police dogs. When it comes to white GSDs, some people have never met them so have no impression at all. It's important that our dogs be good ambassadors of their breed. This isn't a titling activity or something you win awards for, but we believe it is something this is probably more important than anything we do formally compete in.

We often work public events to give the public a chance to see our dogs. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 we worked at the Twin Cities Pet Expo and promoted the white GSD. Atlas worked the crowd and the booth all three years. His job was to let people meet a real live white GSD and see just how wonderful they are. The first two years, we worked short shifts. In 2006, he worked almost an entire day. He was so tired by the end of the day he was falling over, but he never stopped greeting people. He did a wonderful job. Vegas was also there, but she was just a baby so she only worked very short shifts.

We also attend the Minnesota State Fair each year and do either obedience or agility demos or both. Atlas and Mira have both attended the fair multiple times and 2010 was Anubis' first time as well. This is a great opportunity for people to see and meet well trained German Shepherds. We have also done demos at other events such as the Alimagnet Dog Park Dog Days of Summer in 2009. Mira and Vegas attended and did agility demos.

In addition to these formal events, we expect our dogs to be good breed ambassadors wherever they go. They're not perfect, but we try our best to show people how great GSDs are!
