One of the joys of owning German Shepherds is to be able to participate in almost any activity we want. German Shepherds are so multi-talented, they excel in almost all dog events. Our dogs participate in a lot of different activities - some for competition and some for fun. We try to find activites that match the dogs talents and interests to focus on with that dog. All our dogs train in obedience at some level and compete in conformation until they are retired and spayed or neutered. We also participate in herding, rally, agility, and other activities depending on the dog

Versatility is a big part of our philosophy at Atlas Kennels. Our breeding dogs have to be versatile - able to work in multiple venues - for us to feel they are worthy of breeding. However, even our non-breeding dogs work in a variety of different areas because this helps keep them challenged and well exercised both mentally and physically. By asking our dogs to adapt to different activities, they become well rounded dogs that are confident, happy and enjoy life.

We also believe one of the most important activites for our dogs is to be good ambassadors of the German Shepherd breed. Showing people the GSDs can be well behaved and friendly helps combat negative stereotypes. For our white GSDs, many people have never seen a white and our dogs are their first introduction. Although it is not a formal activity, we always make sure our dogs can be good breed ambassadors.
